St. Kilda

Yesterday we arrived in Melbourne! We took public transportation to St. Kilda, which is right on the coast. It is beautiful here! Although surfing was cool, we definitely like it here a lot better for many reasons. It is very quaint and attractive. The buildings are very historic and have beautiful architecture. The area is known as the shopping capital of Australia so there are back to back shops lining the streets. Some amazing restaurants and bakeries as well!

After we got here yesterday we walked around the bay area for awhile, before laying out. We had an early dinner at Lentils as Anything - a vegetarian restaurant that depends on generosity for living. The menu has no prices so you pay what you feel the meal and service are worth. On the way out, you leave money in a box. A very interesting concept we thought.

We are staying in a 10-bed per room hostel, so last night we chatted with some of our roommates. Today we are going back to the beach, as tomorrow is not supposed to be as sunny so we'll do something tourist-like.

I am going to attempt to upload some pictures of our trip thus far after I post this. Hopefully it will work! Thanks to everyone for the comments to the blog, thoughts and prayers!

  1. Glad to hear things are going great. Just wanted to say that the "pay what you feel" idea is certainly an interesting one. I am not sure if that is an idea that could survive here in Houston.

On another note...I think Jessica should try to write a design in her skin with sunblock and take a picture for everyone...just throwing that out there.

    Travel Safe and Enjoy!
